LifeLine Ekurhuleni has been coordination projects within our community which include the following:
This project functions to address the demands for services of the survivors of sexual abuse, witnesses of violence and victims of crime. Thereafter, intermediaries convey the meaning of prosecution questions to the relevant children in a manner so as to facilitate an optimal understanding in order to provide adequate responses.
LifeLine Ekurhuleni Monitors ensure that children’s rights are not violated and that members of the police force are adhering to the Child Justice Act when it comes to detention of children in conflict with the law.
We have 8 volunteers, 2 social auxiliary workers and 1 social worker who provide support and counselling to victims of crime and violence within the community.
Victim empowerment centres located at police stations remain the primary service points to victims of violence and crime. The core service providers providing support and assistance to victims of crime and violence within VEC’s at police stations are volunteers.
LifeLine is providing counselling and group work programmes to victims of crime and violence who are accommodated in the Ikhaya Lethemba residential component (shelter).
