Volunteers – 24 Hour Crisis Line
Part of the process of becoming a volunteer counsellor for LifeLine Ekurhuleni is participating in the required training courses that our organisation offers throughout the year.

  • First you need to attend the Personal Growth Course Training.
    Duration is 13 Sessions and we run the course twice a year.
  • Secondly you complete the Counselling Course.
    Duration is 10 Sessions.
  • After completing the Counselling Course you will go through a selection process and thereafter you will go on the co-pilot (practical) training programme.

Volunteers – Victim Support Centres

Drop you C.V. off at LifeLine Ekurhuleni or at the local police station where you want to volunteer.  At the police station put it for the attention of the SAPS VEP-coordinator:

  • Actonville
  • Dawn Park
  • Daveyton
  • Etwatwa
  • Kempton Park
  • Kwa-Thema
  • Tsakane
  • Springs
  • Tembisa
  • Vosloorus

Requirements:

  • You need to be 18 Years or older
  • You must not have experienced a recent trauma or major life change (within the last 6 months)
  • You must not have a history of substance abuse
  • You must not have a Criminal record

Training:

  • 2 Day Victim Support training
  • 5 Day Personal Growth Course Training
  • 3 Day Communication and listening Skills Training.

Stipend paid Project Volunteers:

LifeLine has a number of stipend paid volunteer positions in the following projects:

  • Outreach volunteers based at satellite service points (9 positions)
  • Duduza Regional Victims Office (8 positions)
  • Ikhaya Lethemba Residential Services (15 positions)

Requirements:

  • You need to be 18 Years or older
  • You must not have experienced a recent trauma or major life change (within the last 6 months)
  • You must not have a history of substance abuse
  • You must not have a Criminal record

There are currently no vacant stipend volunteer positions!  Vacancies will be advertised in the local media and on this website!

Donations

LifeLine Ekurhuleni thanks the many individuals who give of themselves so generously.
LifeLine Ekurhuleni is a Public-Benefit Organisation meaning that:

A taxpayer making a bona fide donation in cash or of property made in kind to LifeLine Ekurhuleni (East Rand), is entitled to a deduction from his taxable income if the donation:

  • Is supported by the necessary receipt issued by LifeLine; and
  • Does not exceed 10 % of the taxable income (excluding any retirement fund lump sum benefit) of the taxpayer, calculated before allowing any deduction under Section 18A or any deduction for medical and dental expenses.

Also:

  • A donor is exempt from the 20 % donation tax
  • An estate is exempt from the 20 % estate duty on property bequeathed to a PBO

Contributions of service, namely time, skills or efforts rendered free of charge, is not property and will not qualify for purposes of a tax deduction in terms of section 18A.
